Data Protection Policy

Under the new General Data Protection Regulations we updated our Data Protection Policy on 29th September 2021.  This sets out what information we hold about people, the legal basis for doing so and how we will protect it.

We also have a data retention schedule that says how long various data is held by the church.

Privacy Statement

Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Longfleet Baptist Church are the Data Controller and can be contacted by ringing 01202 684745or emailing office@longfleetbaptistchurch.co.uk

We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you and provide pastoral support as appropriate.

Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.

Your name and contact details will be entered into our church database which is held on the church office computer and the Pastoral Care Team Database both of which are password protected and are accessed only by the Minister, Church Secretary and Pastoral Care Team.  Your contact details will be removed from the database once you are no longer a member of the church or, if we have lost contact with you, after a period of one year.

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified.

If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled, please speak to our Data Protection Trustee. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.

Safeguarding

We take the safeguarding of everyone who attends the activities of our church very seriously.  Those who work with children, young people and adults at risk are all checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service.  They are all trained in Safeguarding procedures at regular intervals.  We have a Safeguarding Policy Document which has been adapted from the Baptist Union of Great Britain's model safeguarding document and this is reviewed annually.  To read our Safeguarding Policy please click on the PDF document below.
